Summary
A riddle; traditional cures.
The contributor tells a guddick [riddle]. She describes traditional cures, including picking, i.e. using a horn to withdraw blood. She has seen this done herself. Sores were treated by laying on silver money. Chest colds were tackled by eating turnip and sugar. Toothache was treated by laying a raw fig on the jaw beside the tooth.
