Summary
The construction and use of planticrubs.
Stone crubs were used for bringing on young kale plants. They received the same manure as other tilled ground, but the plants were more carefully tended. The crubs were often circular, but occasionally square. The crub walls were about four feet high. Sometimes the walls were built with open spaces to break the wind rather than cause a downdraught.
