Summary - Names and reputations of Traveller families..
'Macatooties' was a by-name for the MacPhees, because there was a belief amongst Travellers that it was unlucky to mention the MacPhees by name in the morning. Many Travellers would also turn back if they saw a MacPhee in the morning.
There was an old man, a Robertson, whose by-name was 'Bannock'. He was an unlucky man to meet, and Travellers would turn back if they saw him in the morning.
The Livingstones could hardly walk for pride; they all adopted a strange gait that made them pirn-taed [pigeon-toed].
