There was plenty of food in the contributor's youth. Herring and milk were plentiful. His mother made cheese and curds. People took turns churning butter. Limpets and whelks were gathered and eaten at Easter. Seaweed was boiled and taken as medicine. Lobsters and crabs were caught at Middleton at exceptionally low tides.
