Summary
The contributor saw a blackcock lying in a field in front of the stable and asked the herd boy to get him the gun and two cartridges. He shot it, but then saw the gamekeeper looking out to see who had fired the shots. Later, the gamekeeper asked the contributor if he knew who was responsible. The gamekeeper never found out who it was.
