Summary
Weddings and dances.
The contributor describes weddings of old. There was dancing in the barn. People were singing. He remembers two very good dancers at a wedding. He also remembers another woman dancing in the schoolhouse. He names the dances common then: Eightsome reels, Scotch reels, Quadrilles, Lancers, Strip the Willow, etc.
People learned dancing by dancing on the road, and music was provided by playing tunes using comb and paper. There is some further general discussion about dancing, and the instruments used.
Polkas were danced. The island kept up with fashions elsewhere.
