Summary
Cures.
People drank a lot of liquid for whooping cough, including mare's milk if available. Herbal cures were used for illnesses. They included root of vetch, which was used for stomach illness. The contributor remembers a Mrs MacDonald who made ointment for burns. It was probably similar to carron oil. When one was burned in the smithy, the remedy was to keep the injury close to the fire. The contributor mentions ointment he got from doctor for a severe burn.
