Summary - A man who pretended to be dead to save himself frightens his wife and her lover.
A man returning from a cattle sale in Falkirk stopped at a house for the night. There was a woman there, alone with her husband's body. He sat with the body, while she went to get people. As soon as she left, the body stirred. He told the man how he had pretended to be dead to save himself from his wife's blows. She was now on her way to meet her lover. The men ate and the husband went back on the plank before his wife returned. She was soon back with her lover and they went to the other end of the house. The husband and the guest followed, and kicked the frightened pair out of the house.
