Summary

Recollections of fiddler Joseph Sim and piper Francie Markiss.

Few could compete on the fiddle with Joseph Sim from New Byth, whose byname was 'the Wonderful Boy'. Hamish Henderson asks if he was the nephew of Francie Markiss, but Jimmy says no. There was an older and younger Joseph Sim. Francie Markiss played the bass fiddle and the bellows-pipes (or cold wind pipes), at Turra [Turriff] Market. Jimmy has seen him there being hurled [wheeled] in a three-wheeled pram.
