Death and funeral customs in Grimsay.
Before the contributor's time, people used to walk all the way to the graveyard with the coffin on a bier. Later, a horse and cart was used. After a funeral, biscuits, cheese and whisky were served. People stopped work until funeral was over. Some information is given on funeral routes, watching over the dead, and shrouds.
