Summary

A young girl falls in love with her employer's son, a sailor. He goes to sea, swearing that the ship that he commands should never reach dry land if he is unfaithful to her. She crops her hair, dresses as a man and joins his ship. The captain remarks on her resemblance to his sweetheart; she quotes his words back to him, and he recognises her, takes her into his arms, sends for the minister and marries her.
