Summary
Deciduous trees such as oak, willow and aspen, and their uses.
John Murdo MacKay discusses deciduous trees such as oak, willow and aspen. Oak was used in building and boat construction, to make swingle-trees in the days of the plough, and also for whisky barrels and snuff boxes. Willow was used for mending creels, making fishing rods, artificial limbs and gunpowder. If planted on boggy ground it will dry it out. Aspen was used for wagon brake pads, wheelbarrows and matches.
