Summary
The singer sits down to muse on the banks of the Spey and sees a lovely girl, the Flower of Fochabers. He gently approaches her, tells her that she has stolen his heart and asks her to take pity on him. She spurns him and he asks for death, for love of Peggy Clapperton, the Flower of Fochabers.
Willie Mathieson learned the song from Mr Milne, Garbity, Moray, during the First World War.
