Summary
Perthshire belief in water horses and water bulls living in lochs.
People believed that a water horse lived in Lochan Lairig Cheile at the head of Glen Ogle. Water horses were supposed to entice children to ride them, then plunge into the water and drown them. A water bull was said to have lived in a lochan beside Meall Tarmachan. People believed that it came and bred with local cattle.
The woman who told of the water horse was a Mrs Stewart, neé MacNaughton.
