Summary

Healing wells and pools in the Killin area.

There was a well in the wood at Achmore where people used to take children to be cured of whooping cough. There was a large flat stone with a pot-hole in it in the River Dochart, just below the railway bridge. The water that gathered in the pot-hole was supposed to cure colds. There was a mineral well up above Killin. People drank the water as a tonic. The iron content was thought to be beneficial. Wells as such were rare in the area because good water was available from the river or from burns [streams].
