Summary

The story of how a washer-woman was seen by two people on the island of Hellisay. A sailor was courting a woman in Eriskay called Màiri Eòghainn. He jilted her, and so she went to live with relations in Hellisay. One day, while she was at the well, she saw a big, beautiful ship out at sea. When she turned around, there was a beautiful lady with a green coat standing there. This lady read her thoughts, and told her about some things that would happen to her. On another occasion, a man named George had an encounter with the Hellisay washer-woman.
