Summary

A woman's song of unrequited love; she laments the fact that the man she loves (Iain Ghlinne Chuaich) has forsaken her. She praises him for his handsome looks and his beautiful hair. She wonders why he was so foolish as to leave her behind, without a care for the love that had been between them. She says that she had never been attached to another man but him and until the day she dies she will not give her love to another. She does, however, wish him well and says that if she has earned his wrath or anger that he may now find someone better to take her place.

The contributor heard this song from his mother. It was composed by a milkmaid to a farmer's son from whom she was separated.
