Summary

This waulking song is part of a flyting between a bardess of Macleod of Harris and a bardess of MacDonald of Clanranald. The early lines sung here belong to the Harris woman. In these lines she describes how she cannot see her lover coming. The main part of the song, in this version, belongs to the Clanranald bardess. She describes her chief and his castle, where there is lots of good food and drink. There are heroic men and beautiful girls. The old men look like youths and the old women look like young girls.
