Summary - Details of Jeannie Robertson's family.
Jeannie Robertson's mother had five children from her first marriage, Billy, Robby, Davie, Lizzie Ann and Jeannie, who was the youngest. Her father died when she was nine months old. Her mother married Jimmy Higgins three and a half years later. Both were aged 32. They had two children, Andra [Andrew] and Bella. She describes her half brother, Andra. He was a soldier, and well liked in the army. Jeannie's husband, Donald [Higgins], taught him to play the pipes and he won prizes in the Gordon Highlanders. Piping also improved his singing voice. He was very fond of Burns songs. All her brothers and sisters could sing.
