Summary
The young man sets his ship in order and sails off to find his beloved. He raps on his love's windows, but she refuses him entry. He asks her to seek permission from her mother and her father, but she declines and tells him her father has a letter telling of his disgrace. He says this cannot be and she decides to let him in, but by the time she unlocks her door he has sailed away. She calls him but he refuses. She throws herself into the sea.
Elsie Morrison learned the song from her father.
