Summary - Wakes and funerals.

In the contributor's youth, when someone died, a light was left beside the body all night. None of the household went to bed on the night of a death. Neighbours came in to keep mourners company. The Bible was read quietly.

In Islay, there is piping and drinking at wakes. Discussion on whether rings, etc. should be buried with a body. Coffins were not carried in Jura.
