Summary - Burkers caught an old lady, but she got away.

When Bella was young she heard burker stories. Her mother told one about an old lady who was going to a farm to ask for a night's shelter when the burkers' machine came up behind her and she was taken. She screamed and the farmer came out and chased the machine and shot at it. The burkers threw the old lady out, and she escaped but was badly hurt. Bella has heard of the blood-suckers, but knows nothing about them.
