Summary

Tommy Tait takes the minister to sea.

Tom Tulloch was told the following story by his mother. After retiring from fishing, the redoubtable Tommy Tait single-handedly shipped stone from Lerwick to Fetlar for the re-roofing of Brough Lodge. On one trip he took the minister, and a storm blew up. As the minister cowered in the bottom of the boat Tait worked the sails and bailed. When he got a chance to take stock, he discovered he had a foot on the minister's chest. The clergyman seemed to bear him no ill-will despite the undignified handling.
