Jack MacQueen's grandfather, James Galloway, was the cox of the lifeboat. He was one of two brothers drowned by a freak wave while fishing on a clear summer day. Miss McGaw and her aunt happened to be out for a drive in a pony trap and saw the wave (or tide lump).
