Summary
Family history and storytelling.
The contributor's father was known as Iain Mòr mac Dhòmhnaill 'ic Iain 'ic Raghnaill. His bother Iain Beag lived in Eriskay all his life. He had a son called Allan. His father had another brother called Seumas. Iain Beag was a great storyteller; there are hardly any storytellers in Eriskay today [1971]. Raghnall mac Dhòmhnaill Bhàin was an exceptional storyteller. He once took an hour-and-a-half to tell the story 'An Tìmeachdan Bochd'. Women told stories to the children, usually about fairies and another creature that was fond of stealing. If one threw out some potato scraps, the stolen item would be returned.
