Summary

Ardmore sheilings.

Iochdar people had sheilings in Ardmore and Rhughasinish. They are named after those to whom they belonged. People were still going to Mòinteach Mhòr in the contributor's youth. Going to the sheiling was girls' work. They came down regularly with the milk. They made butter and cheese at the sheiling. Young men would go out to court them.

They went out in summer and stayed for up to three months. This stopped before the First World War.
