Summary
The geologist Louis Albert Necker and his links to Portree.
Norman MacDonald tells about the life and work of the Swiss geologist Louis Albert Necker, particularly the work he carried out in Scotland. He was very fond of the Highlands and the Gaels. It is said he learnt to speak Gaelic, although this has never been proven. He spent the last twenty years of his life in Portree and is buried there.
