Summary
Stories about Gille Maol nan Cruit in Poolewe.
A man called Gille Maol nan Cruit came to Boor in Poolewe and there was nothing he couldn't do. He got a horse for the Laird of Boor to work with his mare and told him he must urinate on its leg every day. One day he forgot and when he went to bring the mare into the stable there was nothing left but her heart and lungs and there was no sign of the horse. He knew it was a water horse.
A boy told Gille Maol nan Cruit he must be one of the Fèinne. He asked the boy if we wanted to see one of them and took him up a hill. He whistled and said some words and they saw a man approaching who was seven feet tall. The boy fainted.
When Gille Maol nan Cruit died and his coffin was taken for burial many said the coffin was empty
