Summary - This is a song in praise of Sir James MacDonald, eighth baronet of Sleat (born 1741) who appointed MacCodrum as his bard. The opening verses refer to the deaths of previous chiefs, and to the period before Sir James came of age. The poem expresses the bard's hope that God may protect Sir James. He is praised as a humble man, handsome and well-educated. There is a long list of his virtues. The bard lists those who would rise to support him in time of need.
