Summary
In this song a man tells of his love for a dark-haired girl. He describes her beauty in detail and talks of the clothing which suits her. Her parents were not supportive and put her out of the area. Though he could not play the fiddle, he was highly literate, and no one would complain about the sermons he would compose.
Item Notes
9 quatrains sung. Chorus at the beginning and after each quatrain. In other versions of this song it is the man who is sent away.
