Summary
The composer of this waulking song asks if anyone has heard about what happened. The composer's brother and others on board a ship lost their lives in an accident at sea. Several lines describe finding the dead. However, a view is expressed that mourning will not bring back the dead. It would be better to go to the hostelry to drink the health of the living.
