Summary

Fragments of Lord Byron's popular song 'Dark Lochnagar', in which the singer longs to return to Lochnagar; England's landscapes are "tame and domestic" in comparison.

Item Notes

2 verses of 8 lines, corresponding to the first and last of Byron's five stanzas. Piano accompaniment. Lyrics composed by George Gordon, Lord Byron (1788-1824); melody attributed to Sir Henry Bishop (1786-1855).

Lochnagar is not a body of water, but is in fact a mountain in Aberdeenshire.
