Summary
The Irish immigrants who moved into Lanarkshire at the start of the 20th century.
The influx of Irish immigrants into Lanarkshire in the early 20th century is described by Murdo Morrison. He says that they were looking for work in mining and in other occupations. There was unrest at the time, with local people fearing that the Irish would rob them of their livelihoods. Murdo says that he has never witnessed any trouble between the two communities.
