Summary
Work at the Butt of Lewis lighthouse.
There are four full time workers and two part time workers at the Butt of Lewis lighthouse, which was built between 1859 and 1862. The contributor has worked there for thirteen years and tells how weather measurements are taken hourly and how four other lighthouses are observed from the watch room using monitors. The work is much easier now that the light runs off electricity.
