Summary
In this sailing song there is a description of a voyage in a three-masted ship, sailing out of the Queen's Dock in the Clyde. The weather was cold and frosty. The bard is sad to leave his sweetheart behind. When they reached Ailsa Craig they were given the order to hoist her sails. He bids farewell to his mother, his relations and friends as he looks landward. There is a description of the weather on the high seas, and of the work they undertook to keep the ship seaworthy.
