Summary

How Angus Òg of Airigh Mhuilinn was drowned while gathering kelp.

Angus Òg of Airigh Mhuilinn was drowned in Loch Eynort. He was taking kelp to a house by the loch, and he left the oars in his boat and swam out. He was a very good swimmer. He is mentioned in song as being "as light as a swan" - but it seems that his dogs drowned him.

Flora MacDonald was born in Airigh Mhuilinn, where Angus was from. He was related to her - they were second cousins. He was the last relation of hers to live on the island. Calum Maclean asks the contributor if he knows the song that was composed about him. He answers that that many people know the song. The song is not sung here.
