Information about the harvest maiden.
Information about the fun young folk had at harvest time. The contributor took the harvest maiden home many times. Her mother told her that the harvest maiden was shared among the horses when ploughing began in spring. It was decorated with ribbon. The practice only stopped recently [said in 1958]. It was an honour to cut the last sheaf.
The women cut the sheaves and the men bound them.
