Summary
This song is an incitement to keep up the Gaelic language, poetry and music. The composer states that the English or Greek languages are not as sweet as Gaelic and that he has always enjoyed hearing the Gaelic songs. He then praises the poetry of Duncan Bàn MacIntyre and proclaims that young people shall speak Gaelic and the language will never die. The song says that Gaelic was always spoken in the Highlands and tells of how important the language was in the history of the country.
The contributor confirms that it was Provost MacQueen of Oban who wrote the song.
