Summary
Favourite dances in Carsphairn in the 1940s.
The favourite dances in the 1940s in Carsphairn were eightsome reels, quadrilles, Highland Schottische, Lancers, and Drops of Brandy. Foursome reels were only done at country dancing. They also danced the 'La Va' (Lavalle). Mr and Mrs Dickson have a lot of old records, including possibly Jimmy Shand's band playing the tune for this dance. Mrs Dickson likes his playing of the 'Bluebell Polka'.
