Stills and whisky-making in Jura.
There was an illicit still at Glac na Dunach near Ardlussa. A sack of barley would be put in the peat-bog to sprout. There was a competition on New Year's Day to find the strongest man - whoever could pull up the bag. Grain was dried, ground and soaked in water. The liquid was boiled in the still [poit-ruadh] and the alcohol was collected from the worm.
