Summary
The mother persistently questions her son on the origin of the blood on his sword, rejecting his claims that it is from his horse or hound. He finally confesses that it the blood of his brother John and he is going away in a bottomless boat. She asks when he will come back, and he says when the sun and the moon meet in the glen [i.e. never].
