Summary
The origins of Clan MacCodrum of the Seals.
There were several tales about the seals. It was believed in North Uist that the MacCodrums were descended from a seal woman who was captured by a man who took her skin while she was bathing in human form. He took her home and they married and had children. Her husband hid her skin in a corn-stack, but her son saw where it was and told his mother. She took the skin and returned to the sea. She would sometimes come to land to speak to her husband, but never came back in human form.
