Summary
How Dùn Èideann got its name.
Fairies were very small. Their lights could be seen in knolls at night. People spoke to them. They were not human. It was a fairy who gave Dùn Èideann its name. When it was being built, a man came on a white mare each day and worked much harder than anyone else. The man in charge asked who he was. He wouldn't tell, but said the place would be named after him. The man told the others about him. It was suggested he let the mare loose and follow it home. When he arrived he heard a woman say: "The mare is here, and Èideann isn't with it."
