Summary - Stanley Robertson's mother used to warn him about a water sprite at the spring well near the Old Road of Lumphanan.
Stanley Robertson's first sweetheart was Avril from the farm near where they camped at the Auld Road o Lumphanan. He was welcome to stay in any of the nearby houses if the weather was too bad for camping. His mother used to tell him about a water sprite in the form of a young girl that appeared from a rowan tree at the spring well near the Auld Road. The water sprite would play with human children and do them no harm, but would sometimes take one away into the woods and lose them. Stanley's mother warned him not to go away with any girl he met at the well.
