Summary
The contributor tells the story behind this song. A cattle thief and his son lived in a sheiling on the moor and they met a young girl who was out picking flowers. They took her home and kept her there. When she was older she heard the man say that he was stealing cattle from the girl's father in Lochaber. When the thieves went to sleep she escaped to her own father. The next morning the thief went to the girl's father so that he could marry the girl.
