Summary - Stanley Robertson's grandfather operated on his daughter's diseased leg and cured it.

Stanley Robertson's maternal grandfather could not read or write, except to sign his name. He did, however, have some medical knowledge. When his daughter, Stanley's Aunt Teenie, was a child, she contracted a disease in her leg which the doctor could not cure. The doctor was going to have her leg amputated. Her father boiled some water, washed the leg, sterilised a sharp knife and cut a piece of bone away. In a week the leg was starting to heal. Many Travellers witnessed this and told people about it. Teenie lived to be over 60 and had no more trouble with her leg.
