Summary
Perth parliamentary election 160 years ago.
A Gaelic election leaflet from the Perth parliamentary election 160 years ago is read out in full. Mark Wringe discusses the leaflet, which he discovered in the National Library in Edinburgh and considers the reasons for a Gaelic leaflet. General Sir George Murray won the seat for the Tories. There was no secret ballot in those days and concerns were raised in the papers afterwards about intimidation.
