Summary
A Skye minister on Eigg [Rev. Malcolm MacAskill] married the Laird of Coll's daughter. She had wanted to marry a MacLeod of Dunvegan. She heard that his ship was in the vicinity and hoped he would come ashore to visit her. She sat on the rocks every day, waiting. One day the ship appeared, but sailed on by. She was unhappy and composed this song.
