Summary

In this song the bard is sad because he is going sailing. He tells that he is sailing down the Clyde and that he has to take the ropes on board. The only thing that he likes about the trip he is on is that he is with some fine people. He names some of the crew and one of them tells him not to be sad.

He will return to Uist when he finishes this voyage. He will go by boat from Oban to Lochboisdale, where he will get a warm welcome. At the end, he says that he is sad because he is sailing to Vancouver.
