Information about Iain Ruadh MacLellan.
The contributor can remember two families of MacLellans in Eigg. They were descended from Iain Ruadh, a Uist man who was out with Clanranald and the Jacobites at the '45 rebellion. Clanranald and the crew of his boat spent a night in a cave in Eigg after Culloden. He offered Iain Ruadh Sandavore, rent-free, but he said he would prefer some land at Kildonan, which he was given.
